About Pink Wota

It’s a blog by two geeky, cheeky ladies in Florida about the peripherals in life which they finds most fascinating: music, especially. We’re “old” by the wota blogging standard, at least where girls are concerned. Both in our late twenties. You’d think this would add a distinguished, world-wise flair to our writing, but by and large it just has left Vee more bitter and Ash more likely to use this as her outlet from grad school “serious” writing. But, ah yes, J-Pop idols, ikemen, pretty pretty people, and the divas who love them.

Hi, I’m Vee. Let’s just accept that and move on. J-Pop dominates the blog, of course, as I am a wota. We’ll just throw that out the window occasionally, though, and write about something like hot guys who aren’t Asian, Naoki Urasawa’s manga, or music I find important enough to merit a notice. For instance, I’ve covered Nine Inch Nails, modwheelmood, and Muse. Somehow, I’ve decided, all non-J-Pop music discussed on this blog has to have less than two degrees of separation from Alessandro Cortini. But for the most part, I’m just blathering about Ayumi Hamasaki, Hello!Project, and the occasional long-legged, scantily clad Korean girl group.

I try to be snarky and a little bit off-the-cuff. I try desperately not to take myself too seriously but I fail at that A LOT. Sorry ahead of time, if you’re new here.

You know what? Pink Wota is whatever you want it to be. I won’t put a limit on that. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

WHAT THIS BLOG IS.

Pink Wota originated in late 2006 as the short-lived livejournal group ayu-me, where I would post up an Ayumi song each day and discuss the canon of the song, including the lyrics, the PV (if any), the surrounding symbolism/director/fashion, and any live performances. This took its toll, and my efforts didn’t last long. But all the H!P and Ayumi and Namie and other J-Pop gushing I was doing just couldn’t stay on my personal journal.

Version 1.0 was born on May 8, 2007 here. I began things co-writing with my friend Tiff, and later with other contributors Ran, Mei, and Kirie. But things couldn’t last forever on Pink Wota v.1.0. I left Livejournal in late 2008, and I’d already purchased the domain here at Pink Wota, which became 2.0 for all intents and purposes. My co-writers did not follow, the whole thing was sort of haphazard for a few months, and my bff and hetero lifemate Ash followed with the odd ikemen article here and there.

At the beginning of 2009 I joined Ray Mescallado of American/International Wota fame to support the Pleasure Principled blogging project – I rarely promoted my work on the site, but if you want to read me being more than just a whizz-bam wota gush machine, clicky clicky by all means. Some truly awesome articles are all over that site, and let’s hope that it may yet return.

In August 2009 Pink Wota’s database mysteriously disappeared, and after yelling at my webhost for a few hours I determinedly brought it back as Version 3.0. Nothing’s really changed, I just have a copyright-infringing logo now. Whooppee!!! Oh, and all the tags and pictures and links and videos from old posts are jacked up and/or non-existent. Sorry about that. Not that I don’t want people to access those articles – they are only still here because Solo-kun of Solo Space was awesome enough to save a cache of the old site. I’m just lazy. I am intolerably lazy and can’t be arsed to go back and re-tag, align, and whatnot some 80-odd articles.

I’d like to take this moment to point out that there are children in Africa without blogs. So…you know…I don’t know where I’m going with this. Something about Bono, maybe. Which I first typed as “Nono”. That means I’m a wota, if you need further proof. Hmmm…Bono + Nono. That’s scary.

I AM THIS GIRL.

I AM THIS GIRL. Not really, but, in essence. Where Ayumi is concerned. GIF by truehappiness

I don’t really have anything else to say about Pink Wota. Ash is still here, so it’s not JUST me. So you know. Make sure to check who an article is by before you jump to that conclusion. Trust me, though, our styles are worlds apart. She’s actually going to school for this shit, I’m just coasting by on whatever I assume is “talent” (again, lazy).

Oh, oh yeah. YOU. ILU. THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

    Ah, you’re welcome.

I saw the girl during the a-nation ‘09 video and I couldn’t help but crack up (mentally) at the fact that they ZOOMED IN ON HER as Ayu passed by, so I had to make a GIF of it for all to see! Haha. I also made the Sunrise + awesome.png image you posted a while back.

If you ever need hilarious GIFs created for anything Ayu-related, just ask. I even used to make MoMusu ones before they started disappointing me. -sad face-

(I still cannot figure out who you are at AHS… WHY CAN’T I FIGURE OUT WHO YOU ARE AT AHS?! -insert frustrating lolcat image here-)

    P.S: Never before have I found anyone who appreciates Sunrise as much as I do, and now that I have, I don’t quite know how to describe the feeling. ;A;

Yaaay!! You have brightened my day many times with your posts! :D

I’m at AHS, but the few times I tried to post back when I first joined, I was always stuck in “moderation queue” and my posts never showed up. I decided to just lurk, from then on. I’m afraid of what would happen if I DID start getting into it at AHS. Sometimes I want to just spit bile at the screen (though this has been a very, very happy month in general, what with A World is One and all….)

But, for future reference, and for trivia buffs, my username is “forgiver”

    SUNRISE TWINS YAAAY!! o/\o

Yeah, I try not to get into discussion threads at AHS since people just love pointing out how much they hate the most current release. It’s like… what are they expecting? Much like with Sunrise, I think a lot of the disdain for the covers got put onto the songs themselves and it isn’t fair to Sunrise or Sunset to be hated simply because Kazuyoshi Shimomura made Ayu look like Shakira Speyonce.

Anyways, I am excited for the coming album release and can’t wait for Ayu to finally release the title for the album that she decided on back in December. I hope it isn’t Future Classics since apparently the CDL was meant to be a prelude to the upcoming tour. (And also because I kind of dislike how it makes me think of Past < Future…)
